Since 2014, Inhabit Education has produced over 600 books in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English, and English, over 200 teacher resources, and dozens of related resources, including training videos, newsletters, classroom materials, presentations, information kits, and many more. Our major accomplishments include:
- The development of the Inuktut Language Arts 1st Language Curriculum (ILA1), a Kindergarten to Grade 6 language arts curriculum for first-language Inuktut Language Arts in Nunavut, and an accompanying teacher guide
- The development of the Inuktut 2nd Language Curriculum (IL2), a Kindergarten to Grade 6 language arts curriculum for second-language Inuktut Language Arts in Nunavut, and an accompanying teacher guide
- The development and delivery of over 600 teaching and learning resources in Inuktitut and over 200 teaching and learning resources in Inuinnaqtun as part of Inuktut Titiqqiriniq, the Department of Education’s holistic, balanced literacy program
- The creation of Ilinniarniq Pinnguarnikkut, a series of high-quality learning resources (including books, teaching resources, puzzles, play characters, and more) for early childhood education aimed at preparing preschool-aged children in Nunavut for Kindergarten
- The creation of Nipittiavait Inuktitut, a phonics program developed in Nunavut that teaches the relationship of syllabics and sounds
- Development and delivery of language and culture immersion course lesson plans for the Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP)
- The creation of Takuttalirilli! magazine, a magazine series for middle school students with low reading ability, and the development and delivery of over 10 book study modules for use in middle school and high school classroom
- A series of terminology workshops in Inuinnaqtun and Inuktitut aimed at standardizing terms related to education, literacy, social emotional health, science and technology, math, and other topics
Inhabit Education produces resources for Nunavut children, youth, and adults, including college students, elementary school teachers, daycare workers, parents and guardians, preschool students, and more. We have experience creating and delivering products for communities across the territory.
